BY BOOKING WITH US, OR ALL OF THE HOSTEL BOOKING WEBSITES WE ARE AFFILIATED WITH, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU AND/OR ALL THOSE IN YOUR PARTY FULLY UNDERSTAND AND ACCEPT THE TERMS OF THIS POLICY AND ALL CONTAINED HEREIN ON WWW.GUATEMALAHOSTEL.COM.

We do not overbook like many large hotels do! Do to our intimate size, cancellations affect us greatly. Please read the following carefully!!

Please be sure of your dates and travel plans before you book your stay at our Bed and Breakfast. Once we have committed to you to hold a room for you, we will turn subsequent inquiries away.

Please consider travel insurance for any unforeseen problems you may have. You can get travel insurance here. While we realize that problems arise and flights may be delayed, buses canceled, and etc., we cannot and will not be held responsible for your misfortune.

If booking though Hostelworld.com: GuateFriends Bed & Breakfast will bill the guest, for one night's stay (This is one night for the entire amount of the reservation, plus 22% tax, plus 6.6% credit card fee), if they do not cancel their reservation and do not spend the night with us on the day of their scheduled arrival. Hostelworld.com provides, in their legal terms of service the ability to cancel their reservation within 48 hours of the expected arrival time. Regardless of the reason, the guest will be billed if they do not cancel their reservation 48 hours in advance of their scheduled arrival time. Customers of Hostelworld.com can cancel their reservation free of charge up to 2 days before arrival.

If booking through Hostelbookers.com or through guatemalahostel.com: Any reservation canceled within 48 hours, or if the guest does not show on their scheduled arrival date, will be billed full price for the number of people listed in their reservation and for their entire stay, plus applicable 22% tax, plus 6.6% credit card fee. Customers of Hostelbookers.com can cancel their reservation free of charge up to 2 days before arrival.

Guests are wholly responsible for canceling reservations before the respective 48hour policy. If they, and any and all in their group are a "no shows," including but not limited to delayed, or canceled flights, bus delays or cancellations and all other reasons that would prevent them from arriving on the day of their scheduled arrival time, they will be billed full price for the time that they did NOT stay with us.

The person/business whose credit card will be billed may be notified of this via email when the charge occurs.

All group reservations made (3 or more people) must provide a valid credit card. We will bill your credit card for 50% of the total amount to be billed. Once the group arrives, the remainder of the balance is due. This 50% "down payment" is absolutely NON-REFUNDABLE. If the group cancels within 14 days of the expected arrival time, the credit card originally billed will NOT be further billed.

A reservation request does not constitute a reservation. Rooms are only guaranteed once a valid credit card and expiration date have been submitted. If no credit card is given, no reservation will be made for that guest. 

Exemptions. If a guest makes a reservation online through a booking website, other than www.guatemalahostel.com, less than 48 hours in advance of their cancellation, they will not be billed for one nights stay if GuateFriends is notified in an email or by phone. If the guest(s) cancels within 24 hours of their scheduled arrival time, they will be billed for one night's stay at full price, plus applicable 22% taxes and 6.6% credit card fee regardless as to whether or not they contact us to cancel their reservation.

Extended stay guests (3 weeks or longer) must prepay 100% of their room's bill on the day of arrival. Once the guest has paid, there will be no refund granted for any reason. NO EXCEPTIONS. 

Stays of 15 nights or more, regardless of the number of people in the party must pay a 50% non-refundable deposit at the time of their reservation. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Exchange rate from ($) USD to (Q) GUA QUETZAL will be current with either BAC (Banco America Central) or BI (Banco Industrial), daily.

Pets are not allowed.

We do not rent rooms by the hour, please do not ask! 

There is one store in Guatemala that sells Bath & Body Works products and they sell them for Q50 each. We sell ours for Q40. This is an import and a luxury item that we like to lavish on our guests so that they may feel more at home. PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR A DISCOUNT!

We speak fluent English and Spanish only with some basic understanding of Portuguese and Italian.

We hold items in storage for only 30 days, unless the guests has made prior arrangements with us. After 30 days, the items will be donated to a local charity.

The rate for baggage storage is $2.00USD per day per bag, regardless of the size or weight of the bag(s) / item(s).

Because we have a great number of people from many countries, religions and ethnicities, and together at the same time we ask that each guest be respectful of others beliefs and preferences.

We do not discriminate against race, religion, ethnicity, political viewpoints, or sexual orientation!

If a guest leaves for several days, leaves their luggage or other personal items in a room, and does not make arrangements with us about what to do with their belongings, they will be charged their normal room rate for each night they do not stay with us. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Curfew is at 11:00pm Sunday through Thursday for security reasons, UNLESS YOU MAKE ARRANGEMENTS WITH US FIRST! NO EXCEPTIONS. If you do not return by 11:00pm and have not already made prior arrangements with us, you will be locked out and you will be required to pay for the night that you did not stay with us! 

All guests staying through the night of December 31st and into January must pay for their stay up to and including December 31st. They will be billed separately from January 1st on.

THERE WILL BE A Q50 refundable deposit for all keys. That is you will not get a key unless you pay a refundable deposit of Q50. There is a  $40.00USD non-refundable charge for lost, damaged or unreturned room keys.

Passengers leaving for the airport must pay a Q20.00 ($3.00USD) fee at the airport (exit tax). This tax is for both domestic and international flights.

Guests being taken to the airport must leave no later than 2 hours in advance of their scheduled flight.

Guests are allowed one free transport to and from the airport per paid night's stay with us. If a guest has friends or relatives (who will not be staying with us) who need to be picked up, we will do this for a fee of Q20.00 ($3.00USD). 

Free transportation is ONLY to and from La Aurora International Airport or vice versa.

We will no longer pick guests up after 11:00pm regardless of the reason. If your flight is delayed or you are coming on the last Mexicana Flight of the day, you will have to use the taxi service at the airport to bring you to our B&B and call us from the airport when you arrive at the above listed numbers to let us know that you are taking the taxi to our place so that we can let you in when you arrive. Flights have been delayed sometimes 4 hours (until 3am) and in order to provide the best service to all of our guests in the morning, we ask that you adhere to this request. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

Guests are not allowed to open the main door or gate for anyone for any reason. This is for security purposes. 

If a guest does not inform us of the time they want their breakfast and what they want for breakfast by 11pm the night before, we will presume that the guest does not want breakfast.

GuateFriends owners and employees reserve the right at anytime during a guests stay to ask the guest to leave for reasons including but not limited to drunkenness, excessive noise, fighting and the like. Guests will first be asked to leave and if they do not, will be physically removed by security. 

ANYTHING stolen from any of the rooms or anything damaged will automatically be billed to the guests credit card at the price originally paid for the item. The guest(s) will receive an email informing them of the item(s) stolen/damaged and its cost and the amount billed to their credit card.

We are proud to offer you a smoke free environment! Absolutely no smoking in the guest rooms or in any of the other rooms. Smoking is permitted in the designated smoking areas outside. We have no problem with smokers, just not inside the B&B. If it is found that a guest smoked in a room a $100.00USD cleaning fee will be charged to that guest(s) credit card.

If a guest requests airport pickup and gives GuateFriends the wrong time and/or wrong pickup date, they will be required to pay the airport parking fee for the original wait and may need to hire a taxi for drop off at GuateFriends. 

Secure, on-site free parking is available. Please inquire before your arrival to check for availability. We have only 2 parking spaces.

We are wheelchair accessible in half of the house. If you need wheelchair assistance or other assistance, please notify us before your arrival.

All reservations are subject to a conformation, a deposit and are subject to strikes, failure of guests to vacate, natural disasters, and any other unforeseeable causes beyond our control.

Check-in time is 5:00pm or later and check out time is 12:00 noon. 

Tips are not required nor expected. If you tip, the money will go directly to our staff and not the owners of the B&B.

Our bathrooms (toilets, sinks, floors, shower floors, faucets, and counter tops) are sanitized everyday, and towels are available for every guest as well as foot towels if required. At no time do we accept anything dirty left in the bathrooms as they are common areas for other guests. Please be considerate of others when you are in a common area.

Please be considerate of our staff. Try not to bring steamer trunks that weigh 10 times more than the person who will be taking them upstairs for you.

Guest(s) may only choose one offer or special per stay per person with us. By accepting one offer or special the guest(s) forgoes any and all other discounts including, but not limited to discounted rooms rates and monthly specials, 

Guest cooking is not allowed.

You are our guest and as such, we will serve you. This is our honor and included as part of your stay with us. Guests are not allowed in the kitchen, or refrigerator at any time to help themselves to anything. We serve food 24 hours a day 7 days a week to ensure that you will never go hungry or thirsty. 

Though our name says HOSTAL (Bed & Breakfast in Spanish) we are not a HOSTEL. We are a Bed & Breakfast, more specifically a Guest House. We do not operate like a hostel or expect our guests to be obligated to clean dishes, cups, etc., or help out with anything while they are staying with us. We have very strict rules for sanitation and hygiene and have trained our staff in the same manner. The refrigerator, stove, oven, sinks, etc., in the main part of the house are not available to guests. Please do not ask. Also, we ask that you do not take it upon yourself to get a drink, get silverware, plates, etc. Please ask us and we will be happy to get anything that you require while you are staying at GuateFriends. Please allow us to be your hosts while you are our guests. While we appreciate the gesture, remember that we are hear to serve you.

All vegetables and fruits are washed in BIOCIDE and purified bottled water before you enjoy them. All cooking that requires it is done with purified, bottled water.

Breakfast is served from 3am (for those who require it) to 9am. Breakfast is not served before 3am or after 9am sharp under any circumstances. If a customer opts out of breakfast, there will be no refund given. Breakfast served before 7am will consist of toast or cereal, juice and coffee or milk. Full and formal breakfasts are served after 7am.

While we go out of our way for our guests, for some it is not enough. If you would like personalized service, please email us and let us know what it is that you require and we will be happy to do it for an additional $100.00 per person per day. (If you are unsure what this means, please check our amenities page, or email us.)

Our cell phones and business lines are ALWAYS operational and answered when we receive a call. If the call does not go through or there is no answer please keep calling back. Remember that you are calling to a 3rd world country and not everything works as efficiently as in other, 1st world countries.

While we do our part to make sure that buses, shuttles, taxi's, and other forms of transportation are called ahead of time and arrive on time for your departure from GuateFriends, we cannot and do not take any responsibility for any service outside of our own if a company or tour is late or does not show. 

If you are not happy with a tour that we recommend, please contact the tour operator. We only recommend tours that are INGUAT approved and that other guests have told us about based on their personal experience and not necessarily ours. GuateFriends Bed & Breakfast is not responsible for anything that occurs or does not occur before, during or after a tour.
